|
Product Description
Designed for those with visual impairments such as macular degeneration, the Explorē 8 is a portable electronic magnifier with powerful functionality that’s also easy to use. Simply open up its stand, and it turns on automatically! With its folding design and sleek profile, the Explorē 8 is designed to be portable enough to fit in a bag or purse, but also large enough to provide significant magnification. This makes it a great electronic video magnifier to use at home or on the go.
Around the house, it’s a helpful tool for reading the newspaper, sorting mail, or reading books. Out and about, it’s a great video magnifier for reading restaurant menus or other printed text. Its premium 8" touchscreen makes it intuitive to use - simply pinch the screen to magnify objects around you!
For those who prefer tactile input or fewer things to remember, it can also be controlled with only 3 high-contrast buttons. The touch screen is optional, ensuring the device can be as simple or as advanced as a user requires.
Featuring dual 21-megapixel cameras, the Explorē 8 delivers crystal-clear picture quality whenever you need it. Its high-quality cameras can magnify objects up to 30X and allow you to see clearer text, even from a near distance.
If someone needs more magnification, they can simply connect the device to a television or monitor via the included HDMI cable. This device comes with optional contrast/color modes, available reading lines, and more. This means you can customize your Explorē 8 to meet your unique needs.

What is the benefit of a digital handheld magnifier like the Explore 8, compared to a magnifying glass?
A digital handheld magnifier like the Explore 8 will provide adjustable magnification as well as provide a stable, higher contrast image. With its large screen, users will benefit from a wider field of view than most standard magnifying glasses. Since users are viewing a flat screen, there’s no distortion at the edges. Finally, since the camera may point in a different direction than the viewing monitor, users may benefit from more ergonomic or flexible viewing options.
Can I save and upload photos to my computer from the magnifier?
Yes, the Explore 8 allows you to save approximately a thousand photos in its internal gallery. You may connect the device to your computer and view it as an external device.
Can the Explore 8 connect to an external monitor?
Yes, the Explore 8 comes with a cable that allows you to connect it to an external monitor. This allows you to have the camera’s image displayed on a larger monitor. Please note that the device does not allow you to magnify your monitor's image with this method.
Can I use the Explore 8 to view street signs?
If you have a mild visual impairment, it may be possible to use the device in this way. However, we do recommend the distance viewing feature for viewing tasks within 10 feet or less.
Can I use the Explore 8 to write letters or checks?
We do not recommend it for this purpose. There is not enough room for your hand and a pen to fit behind the screen. Ask us about other products which are designed to facilitate this task.
