REACH Interface Author with Smart Speech™
REACH Interface Author with Smart Key Technology™
Smart Keys is an add-on feature for REACH Interface Author. Smart Keys also is a built-in feature for the new "Sounds Like" - Spell, Write™ program.
Let's say you want to type the word "friend". First, you type the letter 'f'. REACH then removes all letters that don't follow an initial 'f'. In this example, many letters are removed! Type the letter 'r' and your keyboard now only shows letters that follow 'fr'. Smart Keys makes typing easier because there is less clutter on the keyboard and targets are easier to find. Moreover, if you're scanning then Smart Keys can help even more because REACH doesn't waste your time by offering you letters that don't make sense.
REACH Interface Author with Smart Lists Technology™
Smart List is an add-on feature for the REACH Interface Author. Smart Lists is a new method for entering in text. You start off using a standard REACH on-screen keyboard but you quickly begin building words using a list of possible next letters (or "chunks" of letters). With Smart Lists, users can improve even more on their typing rate; reduce the number of clicks they have to perform (one click to select from a list, two clicks to select a row and a column); and simplify the mental, visual, and physical tasks involved.
REACH's Smart Speech is a collection of specialized keyboards and dictionaries designed to deliver the ultimate in Speech Augmentation. Smart Speech helps you quickly build sentences by leveraging the use of Smart Lists technology. With each click you're offered a Smart List menu containing probable words and grammatical categories, both based on what you have typed in the sentence so far. If you select a grammatical category, for example "Nouns," you are presented 24 categories of nouns to select from. When you then pick a category such as "Food," you are taken to a "Food" keyboard containing lots of food items -- in two clicks, you can select from 898 food-related nouns - one more click - the "plural" key in the upper right corner of the keyboard - and you can double that number to 1,796 food-related nouns! Smart Speech not only gives you quicker and more effortless access to thousands of words, but it guides you through sentence construction by only giving you the most probable words and links to only those parts-of-speech that make the most sense given what you have typed.
REACH Interface Author with Sound It Out™
REACH's Sound-It-Out is a collection of specialized keyboards and dictionaries designed help you spell phonetically yet accurately. The Sound-It-Out add-on feature is a keyboard and dictionary pack that helps you spell words phonetically. Using the same technology from our "Sounds Like" - Spell, Write! product you spell more accurately. Point at the "Buh" key which shows a picture of a bus, and it says "buh - bus." Click on the "Buh" key and Smart Keys removes all the phoneme keys for sounds that do not follow an initial "buh" sound - just like Smart keys, but with sounds. This product also helps with homophones like for, four, and four, by providing spoken "homophone hints," which are short examples of that word used in a phrase.
