Get your students on the path to literary success! Motivate them with delightful reproducible illustrations, engaging stories, and fun activities that improve their vocabulary, comprehension and reading skills. The lessons are specifically developed for students with special needs, reading difficulties, developmental delays, or other learning disabilities.
Lessons are divided into five parts. Each part comprises 18-20 short stories, all five sentences in length. One sight word is missing from each sentence and students are to choose the correct word from a word list above the story. Word lists are each used twice for two stories, thus allowing the student familiarity with the same words in different contexts.
In addition, sets of comprehension questions are included with every story. Students are asked five “who,” “what,” “when,” “where,” and “why” type of questions that are intended to enhance comprehension, vocabulary development, spelling and writing skills.
You can also further involve and motivate students by letting them create their own storybooks! The first page of each part is a “book cover” and a flyleaf page that they can color and illustrate however they desire!
An appendix contains a “Master Word List” of every word used in the stories and a list of “Words to Pre-Teach,” which are words from the stories, not taught in the Edmark Reading Program.
